Finally found something!!

Yeah, I know it was stupid of me not to have searched on Youtube sooner but oh well, better late than never. here are some videos of Ichibanzai 2009!! It's a damn good thing they didn't tape the karaoke competition. It was a HORRIBLE experience for me!!

And booooo!!! I didn't get enough screen time!! Haha... I'm being a complete attention hog...

Ichibanzai 2009 Cosplay Competition Day 1

Ichibanzai 2009 Cosplay Competition Day 2

I epic failed Jingle Bells...

That IS such a blow to man's pride. I know I was playing on Oni (hardest) difficulty, but still, it's Jingle Bells!! How could I have, not just failed at clearing, but epic failed it!!?? Well, there goes any hope of me entering the Taiko competition (as if there were any from the start) if I attend GACC2009, IF I can attend.

Anyway, I bumped into Mechanical Frog at Bayan Bay last night. Kanojouwa aikawarazu nee... We managed to talk for somewhat less than 5 minutes and she had to leave or her ride would leave her. Well, that breaks the haven't-seen-her-in-months streak.

And today, I went to Gurney Plaza with Youngblood and Bunny. We had nothing to do there (as always) and just went gaming at the arcade. Sigh... the games there are getting boring. They really need to put Taiko there! That should keep me interested for at least a year.

And thanks for the gift, Bunny. Though I have no idea how I'm gonna hang it besides drilling a hole in the wall. Oh well, I'll figure something out... maybe.

Ichibanzai Aftermath

Ichibanzai 2009 has been over for nearly 2 weeks now. Besides the sudden tidiness of my room and a lack of things to do in the middle of the night, there have also been several other changes I've noticed.

After that rather successful Haseo cosplay, I've been motivated to pull of more. The problem is, I have only a little more than 2 months left here. There's a relatively famous convention in Ireland called Eirtakon, but there is a possiblity that I won't be able to attend it because:
1. Possibility of exam period
2. Highly priced entrance fee. (Even London Expo doesn't charge that much!)

Okay, so my next major cosplay will be Haru Glory from Rave. I intend to finish all ten swords. Refer here. And yes, I forgot to upload pictures of the other swords. I love making weapons.

But that will be at least 3 years later. For now, I'm accepting suggestions for simple cosplays that I can pack in my luggage to bring to Ireland. Current choices and suggestions received:

1. Hamrio Musica (I get to make the spear!)
2. Itoshiki Nozomu (It'll be a great way to relieve stress from the med programme)
3. Seiichiro Sano (Easy to pack, that's for sure.)
4. Ash Ketchum (REJECTED!!)
5. Germany (REJECTED!!)
6. Itsuki Koizumi (REJECTED!!) (I do not intend to smile all day!)
7. Yosuke Hanamura (REJECTED!!)
8. Sakai Yuuji (REJECTED!!) (Blutsauger is too huge to carry there)

Anyway, just keep pouring on the suggestions!

Hitsuzen...ka?

The plot twists are getting so insane in Tsubasa Chronicles that I've gone completely numb to them.

Turns out Real Syaoran's parents aren't the Cardcaptor Sakura pair after all. Actually, Real Syaoran's parents are Clone Syaoran and Clone Sakura. CLAMP sure loves meddling with time and space. Now they're throwing a temporal paradox at us where both the original and the clone has to exist for both to exist.

Basically the relationship between the two Syaorans is: Clone created from Original, Original is the son of Clone. Haha, another true example of hitsuzen. It's no wonder their fates intertwined so much.

But, I'm still not 100% sure if the Clones are not the Cadcaptor pair, because after they were reincarnated, Clone Sakura ended up in modern Japan and Clone Syaoran ended up in modern Hong Kong. If memory serves, that's where the Syaoran and Sakura from Cardcaptor come from. Of course, the clones did retain their memories, whereas in Cardcaptor, Syaoran and Sakura didn't know each other. But then the Clones also use the same sword and staff from Cardcaptor.

My head's spinning. Aight, that's all for today.

The Mum Song

Got this from my sis.

Nice job!

Just watched this after the Mum Song.

And this is a DS game!!??

I'm hooked and I might just do it.

Ever since I finished my Haseo cosplay, I can't help thinking of doing more!! That's it! I am so preparing something for Eirtakon in Ireland this November!

And once I get back, if I don't have many games to play and once I'm done remaking and repairing my Haseo cosplay and perhaps another cosplay, I'm gonna risk sexual harassment and get y'all's measurements so I can make cosplays for y'all!

I'm considering taking up sewing lessons (which I need anyway to improve on surgical skills) in August and continue practicing in Ireland till I can pull off some cosplays without professional help! And if I successfully do that, I'll have a second alternative for a career.

Of course, this is all based on momentary passion and may subside if I were to, say, fail to attend Eirtakon 2009. I need a map of Dublin to see where DCU isand how far it is from UCD!!

eh? eh? eh? Eh? Eh? Eh? EH? EH!!??

Huh? What? Eh? Nani? What the...? How the...? K-On! SAISHUUKAI (Final Episode)!!??

Just after they introduced Azusa, they're already ending the series with the next episode!? I thought it was gonna be a 26 episode series? How can there be only 12!?

No! No! No! No! Not enough! I haven't had enough! NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice flowers.

It was my first time buying flowers for someone, and being a guy who knows nothing about flowers, I didn't even know what to pick! So, in the end, I just randomly picked a bouquet and asked for some changes so that the bouquet included chocolates but still cost the same.

Here's some pics:

I guess it turned out pretty nice.

Just guess who it was for. And Retarded Bunny, Youngblood, and Cubix (since Bunny has probably told you the answer), don't answer.

啊!心痛!心痛!

可恶!可恶!糟糕!糟糕!

Wind blew into my room and my broadsword fell. It probably knocked onto something hard and the foam snapped! Aww man... 1 month of work wasted. And it was the most expensive prop considering the size (80% of the cost was for paint).

Sigh... Alright, I'm remaking it with wood next time! Either the inner or the outer body has to be made of wood. And then I'll start pumping iron until I can wave it around freely with only 1 hand.

不过。。。说真的。。。还是好心痛喔!

Scared the heck out of me

For a moment there, I thought my internet connection broke (again). Good thing I was wrong and it was actually because somebody disabled the Local Area Connection.

Phew... Don't wanna contact Telekom again...

Haseo Cosplay pics

Time to begin uploading pics for Hime-sama and others. Seriously, if you can, please just go search for the whole album in Facebook.

Haseo with dual guns

Haseo with broadsword (unusable but it looks nice)

Haseo with dual swords. (VS Archer)

The cosplay took me 3 months to make, including planning, collecting materials and trial and errors. The stupid thing is I forgot to take more pics!!

BUT!! I WON BEST DRESSED!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!! And I probably won't until I win another award!

Perhentian Trip

Right... I forgot to tell everyone that I'll be gone from tonight until Friday night. A trip to Pulau Perhentian. Can't say I'm ecstatic about it since I'm not particularly interested in snorkeling etc.

Anyway, no pics of Ichibanzai 2009 up yet because uploading is slow as hell! I'll do it when I have more time. In the meantime, check Facebook. Uploading is a little easier there.

And Retarded Bunny and Winger, COSPLAY!! Me and Loon have already done it at least once. And my quarter-baked otaku of a cousin has already pulled off 2. Simple, they may be, but cosplays nonetheless.

"I hope to see you more ofteh in the cosplay market."

I'm gonna make this fast since it's late and I wanna sleep. The following is a short report of what went on during June 6 and 7 aka Ichibanzai 2009!

Day 1:

I was late. VERY late. Dressing up took a lot longer than I expected. I only arrived at KDU College at 4pm, which means that I missed almost everything except the cosplay competition.

And the moment I stepped out of the car and into the KDU lobby, I got swarmed by a whole bunch of photographers and cosplayers eager to get a pic with me. So, I never even got pass the entrance until 4.30pm. Good thing I immediately signed in for the cosplay competition first. And after that, Hare Hare Yukai and Motteke Sailor Fuku dance! Thanks to that, a lot of my props got damaged, but at least not significantly.

For day 1 this year, there were 7 participants including me. Haruhi, Gothic Lolita, Clark Steel, Uchiha Sasuke, Cloud, Haseo (me) and Hei (Cubix). I was really surprised. The number of participants may have decreased, but the quality was superb! Haruhi went first and already she moved the audience with her Haruhi-ness. "Say goodbye to even a chance at winning", I thought.

So, everybody went up and did their thing. My performance was mediocre, I can say that since I could only use my dual guns. My broadsword was completely flimsy and unusable for anything other than posing. So, I abandoned my idea of weapon changing on stage and just posed with my guns. Sigh...

And then it was time to announce the winners. Since there was no longer a need to perform actions, I brought my broadsword along too. Before the epic moment, I hated the MC. He kept going on and on and on with his jokes and built a lot of tension. That wasn't so bad, but his constant dragging really made my arm sore since I was holding the handle of my broadsword which is at about the same height as my head!

And then, the judges commented on each one of us. When it came to my turn, my stomach really twisted. The following are comments I remembered: "Your outfit is amazing!" "I love your huge sword." "I can see you put a lot of effort into it and it was really worth it." and the sorta scary "I love you!". Cubix, please correct me if I heard that wrongly.

And then Justin said, "I see you've returned from last year and this is a huge improvement! Good job. And I hope to see you more in the cosplay market." I was really happy to receive that comment but pretty melancholic too. As far as I know, this will probably be my last cosplay for years to come. Since I didn't want to spoil the mood, I didn't say anything but "thank you".

And then again with the MC jokes and tension. Finally (after what seemed like enough time to find a cure for cancer), they announced the results.

"The best dressed award goes to............. HASEO!!"

It took me about 2 seconds to realise they meant me and another 3 seconds before I realised they weren't kidding. Then I proceeded up front to receive my prize (which isn't as nice as last year, but who cares?) from Justin. No thoughts crossed my mind except to pose for the mountain of photographers in front of the stage.

And the best cosplayer went to Clark Steel for his excellent mimicking of the character's skills in the game. And we did a group shot and went off the stage.

And then it hit me that this really was NO joke.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Day 2:

I went a lot earlier than the day before. I arrived just after the Soul Calibur 4 competition began. There wasn't really anything to do today since I didn't feel like entering the cosplay competition again. Justin was also gone. So, my cousin signed up for the Wasabi Eating competition and I signed up for the singing competition.

In the meantime, I just went around posing and taking shots of other cosplayers. And I had a chat with several of them as well as the Ichibanzai team.

My cousin was the first to finish for the first round of the Wasabi eating., but he lost the 2nd. Poor guy. And he was totally crying when he got off stage. I told him to fire a shot when he finished but no, he wouldn't do it. Oh well.

Then, my cousin and sister joined the Ichibanzai Escapade which is Amazing Race KDU and I didn't see them for quite some time after that since they were running around everywhere and I had to stay for the karaoke competition.

Then it began. This year, the winners were obvious. The first singer was very good and every other participant died from depression. Then, the 2nd to 5th singers were just mediocre to extremely terrible. The final singer (Taka), however, did a pretty good job and actually tied with the 1st singer, so they had a tie-breaker round. The 1st singer came first because Taka chose the wrong song. His rapping was good but the singing was ugh...

And if you wanna know how I did, I fall into the extremely terrible category and I'm not exaggerating. I epic failed when I forgot the lyrics and also couldn't bring my voice out in many parts of the song I did remember. The PA system had some blame to take, but every other singer also had the same problem. The music was louder than the vocals. Well, enough thinking about that.

I met Kazuki again and surprisingly, he still remembers me from ACF 06. This year, his sword became significantly lighter. I could actually lift it with one arm, and he told me that he actually removed some parts to reduce the weight. He could hold it and wing it with one hand, but he found it a little heavy too. And he gave me some good tips to make my broadsword less flimsier, but his were time-consuming compared to what Sasuke taught me the day before.

Finally, it was cosplay competition again! There were 9 cosplayers this time. Archer, Shana, Haruhi, Gothic Lolita, Dante, Train Heartnet (my cousin), Hinamori Amu, Akito (from Fruits Basket) and Hitachi (from Naruto). Watching all of them going on stage really made me regret not joining again. Just because I wanted to keep my title, I totally forgot that I was supposed to be having fun.

Well, the cosplayers were still pretty good today, but their performance was less impressive than the previous save for Dante and Akito. And the best dressed award went to Gothic Lolita (Ha! So she was 2nd to me yesterday!) and best cosplayer went to Akito for making out on stage (being forced by the judges and the audience mostly). I remember Haruhi screaming "Hentai!" Haha...

This year, they had no band on the last day, so there was no free dance. The only dance was when me, Haruhi, Sakura, Taka and one other person (sorry I forgot who) went up there and danced Hare Hare Yukai. Being people who memorised different versions of the dance (and some of them only knew half the dance), we looked completely stupid and disorganised, but who cares? We're having fun!

And then I went home. Haruhi now knows where I work since I told her. And she's gonna walk into my shop shouting for Haseo one day. Crap... I hope the change in hair colour and style will me unrecognisable. But, I really do wish she would pop into the shop. heck, I hope to bump into all the cosplayers again! I love you guys! Thanks for making my final cosplay so much fun! And if it doesn't turn out to be my final cosplay, Justin, I aim to not disappoint you!

Pics will be uploaded on Facebook and here later.

4 days to Ichibanzai 2009!

Phew... I'm almost done. A little panicked since I realised that I forgot to make the shoes, but I can definitely finish on time. Minus the dual swords.

Chrome Shelled Regios just got more exciting. They're now going to face the invincible city Grendan. Hehe... I'm looking forward the next episode.

And I finally got Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner 2!! Oh yeah! Booyah! After 1 whole month of pestering the game shop near my workplace, they finally got Devil Summoner 2 in stock and I bought them instantly, of course!

Once Ichibanzai 2009 is over, I'll have 3 games to complete. 4, if I can find Tales of Symphonia. Think you can help me here, Cubix? 5 if Cubix's copy of FFXII does not hang at the Phon Coast and I can finally continue from there.

And I saw something absolutely utsukushii! Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete Limited Edition along with a PS3 set. Unfortunately, it costs RM2250. Sigh... Fine... I'll wait for FFXIII Limited Edition + PS3 set. I should have enough money by then... but only if they still have any in stock when I come back. (Yeah, like that'll happen.) If otherwise, I'll aim for FFXIII Versus Limited Edition + PS3 set! Fabulla Novella Crystallis will be the first set of games I'm aiming for! Check Wiki if you don't know what that is.

Soul Eater

The first episode was kinda disappointing. You're introduced to Maka and Soul, the Technician and her Weapon. Soul is a guy obsessed with being cool, whereas Maka is the typical serious, hardworking girl. You watch them hunt down the 99th soul and the final Witch Soul to transform Soul into a true Death Scythe... until something stupid happened and all their souls were confiscated by their school principal, Shinigami-sama. Soul can transform into a huge Scythe.

Side note: Shinigami-sama has an ungodly powerful Shinigami Death Chop, which is basically karate chopping anyone's head with his squarish fist. He's not as nuts as Kami-sama from Law of Ueki but he's still a pretty whacked dude. Not wacky. His Death Scythe is wacky, though.

Anyway, episode 2 stars Black Star and Tsubaki. And this is where the series picks up. Assassin rule 1: Hide yourself in darkness, hold your breath and find a way to your target. Assassin Rule 2: Read the target's mindset and deduce his actions and thoughts. Assassin Rule 3: Strike before your opponent even knows it. Ready? Go. "YAHOOO!! I'M BLACK STAR!! AND I'M GONNA ASSASSINATE YOU TONIGHT!!! How's that for an epic introduction!?" You can probably guess the rest now, right? But don't be fooled. When he gets serious, he can still match and probably even beat Naruto with 1 or 2 tails released. Tsubaki is capable of transforming into various ninja weapons. Chain scythes being the default.

Episode 3, you're introduced to Death the Kid. He is the son of Shinigami-sama. However, he refuses to immediately use a Death Scythe just because his father is a Shinigami. He chose to create his own Shinigami. A cool personality, a rational mind, capable of precise aim, and wields insane firepower. To put it simple, the perfect fighter. But because of that, he is obsessed with perfection. He wants everything to be nothing but symmetrical and will fall into a state of despair and worry if anything is not symmetrical. He hates his hair. Patty and Lizzy are his Weapons. They transform into two guns and are also capable of using each other in case Death the Kid decides to run home to check if the portrait on his wall is crooked.

And after 3 episodes, they scream "End of prologue and now, the main storyline begins." Great idea for main character intros, guys!

P.S. Hayate the Combat Butler will be airing on Animax starting June 11. I'm looking forward to it.
