Real life Limit Breaks

I'm sure most of you know what Limit Breaks are. Some may know them as Overdrives (FFX), Awakenings (FFXII) or Trance (FFIX).

A Limit Break is a super attack that a character in Final Fantasy can use when a bar is filled, or in FF8's case, when their HP becomes critical. FFXII however, requires a full MP bar to unleash. Limit Breaks deal insane levels of damage or allows high level skills at almost no cost (with the exception of FFIX and FFXII where MP is still used).

And now, I shall list down a few real life versions of Limit Breaks. Believe me, some really did shock me.

Example 1:

Character: Me

Limit Break: Healing Touch (Cashier version)

Story: This is pretty common though. Intense focus is all you need. I had to deal with a lot of work that day, a lot more than today. The other cashier was out to lunch at 1pm and customers were flocking in like cattles being herded. I was actually typing on the cash register with my left hand while writing DOs and cash bills with my right. At the same time, a Japanese guy who had trouble speaking English was trying to explain the problem with his printer to my colleague. So, I was asked to translate. In other words, my eyes, hands, mouth and ears were completely occupied. Suddenly, I felt this strange sensation in my mind and I started working faster. Heck, I was moving faster and faster that the customers seemed surprised when I took items from their hands. It probably felt like I was snatching the items from them. I was talking faster too. My colleague actually asked me to talk slower. Anyway, the crowd slowly cleared up in what felt like an hour for me. I took a look at my watch and it had only been about 4 minutes. What's more? The state of intense focus continued and I was actually zooming around the shop moving stock, typing invoices, serving customers etc. Time only quickened at about 3pm and I felt like I had actually been doing a whole day's work. I got shoulder aches the next day.

Example 2:

Character: An old man with a walking stick.

Limit Break: No Miss Javelin

Story: I saw the old guy walking in Botanical Garden. He looked just like a regular old man with back problems enjoying nature. Just then, a bird comes flying down, grabs his hat and flies away. The old man flew into a rage and went chasing after the bird, but he was an old fellow with a bad back. To my surprise, the old man looked up and threw his walking stick straight at the bird. What shocked me even more was seeing the tip of the stick go straight into the mouth of the hat. The added weight forced the bird to drop the hat and the old man just went after it like it was natural, while I stood there with my jaw gaping open.

Example 3:

Character: Pikaby

Limit Break: Eye of the Storm

Story: Youngblood has seen this too, but not at the same time as me. Yu Wei and some other guys were wrestling in class while I was watching Pikaby draw. We were both silent as the Pokemon he was drawing slowly came into view. Suddenly, one of the guys got pushed too hard and knocked into Pikaby's table. The table literally flipped outside down and the picture was ruined. In an instant, I felt a rise in air pressure and the presence of murderous intent. He stood right up with an expression of rage I've never seen or even thought possible for him in all 3 years of knowing him. He immediately yelled a whole chain of curses and swear words that almost immediately made every student in the class to run to the side of the room. In fact, it looked like a bomb just landed in the middle of the room and everyone was staying as far away from it as possible (Pikaby sat in the exact centre of the classroom). I was still sitting beside him, completely dumbfounded. There's a phrase, "The calm before the storm". Pikaby's almost always calm (save when he's playing Taiko)... imagine the storm.

Here's a rough diagram of what it looked like:

The last 2 were kinda hard to believe huh? But I swear they were real. They'll probably remain as the most unbelievable memories of my life. Damn will I have a story to tell me grandkids!
